Hamed Wardak, an Afghan working towards improving conditions in the region, would be delighted to learn about the new hospitals being opened in his namesake, the Wardak province of Afghanistan. It was two hospitals that opened there, both maternity ones, with a capacity for 30 women in each. Wardak is in the central east part of Afghanistan.
Both hospitals (Bibi Khari Gul and Shirin Taj) are one-story and took nearly a year and a half to complete. It was the Bayat Foundation (based out of America) that funded the projects which are “built to a modern design, with a complete electrical system, patient rooms, operating room, delivery room, post-op recovery room, a pharmacy, doctor’s office, reception area, storage and bathrooms.” The idea behind these hospitals is to “help the next generation of Afghans and their mothers begin life as well as possible.”
Indeed, the Bayat Foundation is similar to work undertaken by Hamed Wardak as it seeks to “promote the well-being of Afghan people.”

Schools to be built in Laghman, a province in Afghanistan, improving conditions for Afghans delighting activists like Hamed Wardak.

In Laghman (Afghanistan’s eastern province), two new middle school buildings will be constructed, each containing eight classrooms, four administrative rooms and five restrooms along with a well and surrounding wall. The buildings are set to cost around $177,030 USD. Projects like these will be very beneficial to many Afghans; those who will be going to the school; the educators who will be employed at the school and all those who will be working on the construction. Hamed Wardak, who works hard to see conditions improve in Afghanistan, would be quite delighted at such a project; on every level it succeeds in helping local Afghans help themselves.

One of the many organizations working to improve Afghani conditions is Fedayeen-e-sol, “Sacrificers for Peace”, co-founded by Hamed Wardak. This movement is one combining all ethnicities, which works to improve the country from the inside, by boosting the quality of everyday life and maintaining independence in a non-violent way. The organization defines itself as the “positive opposition” to the Taliban.

Mr. Wardak and many others contribute constantly to the growth and mending of Afghanistan by strengthening schools, medical centers, children’s activities and more.

Fedayeen-e-Sol, or Sacrificers of Peace, is a relatively new political movement that has taken shape in Afghanistan. It is pro-Western and offers Afghans an ideological alternative to the Taliban’s vision. Led by Hamed Wardak, the son of the current defense minister of Afghanistan, Abdul Rahim Wardak, it is making great strides with its mission.

Hamed Wardak explains that he wanted to create the movement after traveling through Afghanistan and speaking to local elders. As he said, “The more I deal with elders, I realize the potential for democracy in this country is so great. The type of ideals that we have, they also share, they just express it in different ways.”

Fedayeen wants a free market, low taxes and less drug traffickers and militia leaders in Afghanistan. They want the United States and the European Union to help fight Islamists, who, Wardak asserts, are supported by Iran.
