One of the many organizations working to improve Afghani conditions is Fedayeen-e-sol, “Sacrificers for Peace”, co-founded by Hamed Wardak. This movement is one combining all ethnicities, which works to improve the country from the inside, by boosting the quality of everyday life and maintaining independence in a non-violent way. The organization defines itself as the “positive opposition” to the Taliban.

Mr. Wardak and many others contribute constantly to the growth and mending of Afghanistan by strengthening schools, medical centers, children’s activities and more.

Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce 6th Annual Conference

On Sunday, November 7th through Tuesday, November 9th, the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce, where Hamed Wardak is a founding vice-president, will have its 6th Annual Business Matchmaking Conference. The conference includes three exciting, packed days starting on the evening of November 7th at the Washington Marriott at Metro Center with a Welcoming and Networking Reception.

On Monday, November 8th, there will be a Conference and Trade Fair from 8am-5pm at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. In addition, during the day there will be 10 Minute One-on-One Meetings with Key Speakers and Others and a Mix & Mingle/AACC Award Reception. The Conference & Trade Fair and the 10 Minute Meetings will continue on Tuesday as well.

A New Discovery of Ancient Artifacts

Amazing archeological artifacts found in Afghanistan can attest to its significance in the ancient trade route known as the Silk Road. These routes connected Asia with the Mediterranean countries, as well as Africa and Europe. They served as crucial meeting points between traders, merchants, pilgrims and soldiers, as well as common travelers, and enabled the exchange of goods, culture and technology. These paths extended more than 4,000 miles.

Afghanistan has been able to recover hundreds of ancient artifacts, despite their fears that the relics have long since been stolen or destroyed over the years. These artifacts present most beautifully the ancient Afghani culture. Hamed Wardak is a strong supporter of improving the quality of lives for the people of Afghanistan. But he doesn’t just show his support in theory; he recently gave a large financial contribution to Nooristan Foundation’s annual gala, the proceeds of which will help the Afghan people realize their dreams, aptly entitled, “An Evening of Hope to Benefit Afghanistan.” This is why someone like Wardak would be proud of the recent brick laying ceremony marking the construction of a new girls high school in Kabul.

Hamed Wardak on the Betterment of Life for Afghan People

Such a school – Sir Asiab Girls School – is set to make the people of Afghan extremely happy. It will be able to take in around 3,500 students and house 20 classrooms. It is the American-led Kabul Task Force that will be building these premises and as a man dedicated to improving relations between Afghanistan and America, this venture is definitely one in which Hamed Wardak can take pride.

Angelina Jolie Giving to Refugees in Afghanistan

Girls in Tangi, Afghanistan have reason to celebrate right now. Angelina Jolie, the famous UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, recently provided $75,000 in Tangi to help build a school for girls. Featuring eight classrooms, four administration buildings, a well and eight latrines, the school will educate up to 800 girls in two shifts.

One girl, Laila, a 14 year old who recently returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan, said, “I always had hopes and dreams of going to school. The hope to become a qualified teacher has revived in me.” In Tangi, there are three settlements that gather together approximately 7,800 people who have returned from Pakistan over the last five years. With the help of UNHCR and other humanitarian agencies, most of these families intend to have a fresh start in Nangarhar.

Other activities and leaders such as Hamed Wardak have similarly contributed time and money to UNHCR to help refugees to return to Afghanistan and to start to rebuild their lives.

Hamed Wardak Pledges Generous Support

Hamed Wardak recently pledged $100,000 to USA for UNHCR. This is the U.S. Association for the U.N. Refugee Agency. Mr. Wardak intends that his donation will benefit the people of Afghanistan, including the many thousands who are displaced.

Hamed Wardak explains his support as follows: “I have long admired and respected the work of the UNHCR. Their work is critical in Afghanistan today. I wanted to provide support to the most disadvantaged group in Afghanistan – Afghan women.”

The money is earmarked to help women and increasing employment opportunities in Afghanistan. In addition, he hopes that the money can help those who were displaced as a result of the ongoing conflicts.
